RCI Finance Voluntary Termination

Just about to send email in for Voluntary Termination for my Renault Clio.

It has 35,000 miles on the clock (well under the agreed mileage). It has a few scratches that I think the finance company may try and sting me for.

My question is. If I refuse to sign a document when the guy comes to pick up the car, will he refuse to pick it up? Am I within my right to refuse to sign anything and just let him pick it up? What will happen if I refuse and he refuses to pick up? Will it just sit on my drive until one of us gives in? Does anyone have experience of this.

Just been through this with MotoNovo. The people who picked up the car were very clear that what I was signing did not constitute any acceptance of liability, just a statement of fact, this was the condition of the car when at collection. To be safe I added my own text, "I believe this car to be in a reasonable condition for its age and mileage and do not accept any further liability under the terms of my finance agreement", or similar. He did price up the various dings and asked if I wanted to settle up now to avoid the hassle, but was not remotely aggressive in trying to get the money. I had one call from the collection company when it was inspected at their depot, and one from MotoNovo and that was it. Final email accepting we were quits came a week later. Difference between settlement figure and what they got for the car at auction was well over £2k.

Its funny how insistent in the correspondence they are that you have to sign their slip to move forward, obviously I haven't done this as suggested in the guides here.

Hey - I’m just wondering how it all went for you? I’m looking to VT with RCI I’m well under on mileage couple of wear and tear scratches which may t-cut out - going to attempt this when I send off VT request so just wondering if they gave you any hassle on collection etc?
