I paid to park in a car park I have used every week for 7 years. I paid the 50p fee as always, but noticed the meter asked for my reg. no. So I put in the 'number' and not the full letters and numbers. All our town council parks only ask for the number. I did not notice any other signs regarding the new operator . This car park has always been patrolled by car park attendants and only a fool would not buy a 50p ticket.
I got a charge letter from Smart Parking, and appealed with proof that my ticket matched my 'number' and the time was well within the ticket allowance. I felt my mistake was honest and genuine and I had not purposely paid and then sabotaged it!!
They have upheld it and apparently I need to appeal to POPLA.
Is this serious? Would any court in the land be on their side??
