  • MET - Parking Charge Notice, in a carpark where I had a ticket......

    Hi all

I wondered if you would kindly help me out with the best way to appeal my charge.

I parked in my local train station and purchased a ticket as I usually do, however for some reason, the ticket must have slipped form the dash when I shut to door as I came back to a parking charge notice on my windscreen and when I got in the car, my parking ticket in the footwell.

Where do I stand with this? Do I write to them to appeal and if so, what do I write?

I look forward to your swift replies.

    Thanks in advance.

    James

Was the ticket on the window or through the post ?

The ticket was on the windscreen....

I also went on their site and looked at the pics which show there is no parking ticket on display. I still have the parking ticket I paid for on the day.

I'd wait until the notice to keeper arrives which should be between day 28 and 56. It gives them extra scope to mess up.

        If not

        Dear Sirs,

I wish to invoke your appeals procedure. I purchased a ticket (see attached copy) and in any event your charges are penal and not a genuine pre estimate of loss.

Should you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

        Yours etc

If you get a popla code let me know.

          Thanks for your quick reply.

It states I need to appeal within 28 days, so if I wait for the notice to keeper to come (which is after 28 days) will that not cause a problem?

No because the keeper needs a chance to appeal. It may or may not be the same person and they have no clue whi it is.

Really helpful, thanks. I will wait and see if anything comes in the post and get back to you then.

              Thank you

So a letter came through the post, a parcking charge notice, addressed to my wife as she is the legal owner. It states that all appeals must be put in writing 28 days from the initial date of the incidence (which is now past that) so can I no longer appeal?

The letter also states that POPLA will not accept an appeal if I have not appealed to MET first, which I cant seem to do as Im out of that period.

                Please advise.

                Thanks

                J

The keeper should have 28 days to appeal.

Can you scan the letters and post them up, minus personal info but leaving dates, please ?

                      Dear Sirs,

I wish to invoke your appeals procedure. The driver purchased a ticket (see attached copy) and in any event your charges are penal and not a genuine pre estimate of loss.

Should you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

I am under no statutory obligation to name the driver and will not do so.

                      Yours etc

If you get a popla code let me know.
