  • PCN for gym car park I was allowed to park in

I received a parking charge notice from CP Plus after parking in the gym car park which I’m entitled to park in for free.

I’ve parked there for two years without any hassle, but at some point over lockdown they introduced a new process where I have to submit my car registration via a dashboard in the gym.

I wasn’t made aware of this and appealed to CP Plus. I provided proof of membership but they said because the car parking signs had been updated and I couldn’t provide a log of me actually entering the gym, they rejected my appeal.

I’m now being chased by Debt Recovery Plus and CST Law have recently sent an “unpaid debt - reminder notice” on their behalf. They are currently trying to push me into paying, otherwise they will take court action.

I’ve not responded to the letters so far and I am unsure of the best way to proceed. I don’t believe I’m in the wrong here but CP Plus weren’t interested. Is there a way I can manage this without it escalating to court? Do I continue to ignore the letters until they issue court proceedings?

I've contacted the gym to see if they can help in any way.

    I’d really appreciate any advice.

    Thank you.
