Smart parking. Asda Trafford - won

Parked at asda trafford centre back in November and over stayed the parking by 57 minutes, the maximum stay is 3 hours. Couple of weeks later had a nice letter demanding £40.00. I contacted them stating that I was unaware that parking restrictions. Have mailed the usual 1st template letter and the 2nd and now have had their final decision upholding the fine. Appealed with popla on the 9th, so i'll wait and see what happens. See letter.
What are my chances of winning.

Depends on your appeal. A good appeal should win, a bad appeal won't.

This is what wrote on the appeal to Popla.
The driver did not see or notice any signage and was totally unaware that there were any parking restrictions in place. I do not live in the area and have never heard of supermarkets having parking restrictions. My local store Aldi has a keyboard terminal that requires you to input your registration and my local trading estate has ticket machines, all other stores that I am aware of have no restrictions.
It was raining on the day in questions and this added to the difficulty in spotting any signage.
I have been in contact with smart parking and they have asked me to supply any receipt as evidence, unfortunately as I paid everything in cash I am unable to do so. The website Parkopedia states about Asda Trafford that Store purchase required. Maximum stay restrictions MAY apply and Parking Restrictions: Customers only.
I was a paying customer at the store on the day in question and find this charge totally unfair. There was no ticket machine or pay and display facilities, how can this be legal. This charge is no more than an invoice.

Chances = poor - non existent.

Contact Asda via twitter or facebook if contacting the local manager is out of the question. Better chance than your appeal.

Either that or hope they don't go to court. Try Asda 1st though !
