    You are not required to identify the driver in your witness statement.
    You should never lie in court, and must answer all questions truthfully.
    You may or may not be questioned by the claimant's solicitor .... it will depend how the judge runs the case.
    Sometimes the judge does the questioning.
    It is quite possible that the identity of the driver is not requested, but nothing is certain on the small claims track

          So you want the case to be heard in your local court, and the hearing in person and not on paper.
          File in court & serve on claimant's solicitor
