  • County Court claim over single parking fine

Hi, I'm new to this forum in desperate help for some advice on the county court claim letter I received today for £256.81.
The initial fine happened almost a year ago(21/04/19). Where I parked in what I thought was a pub car park but turned out to be private parking for the building next to it. My type 1 diabetic girlfriend was in the pub having food with her mother and brother and had dropped her insulin pen, cracking the glass so she needed me to bring her a fresh set. I unknowingly parked in the wrong car park for a total of 22 minutes. I never seen any sign stating that it was private parking and neither did I think 20 minutes was enough time to cause any issues (the car park was empty).
Like most cases I ignored all of the fines that came through hoping that they would stop, unfortunately that has not worked in my favor. I am a student that really doesn't have £256 to pay unfair fines like this.
I would appreciate any help and advice so much right now. The letter says I have 14 days to reply. This is a picture of the claim: https://imgur.com/a/Zc8CwHy
