  • Met parking services and parking notice

Hi, I was issued a parking notice by met parking services on the 10th of March for over staying by eleven minutes at Gatwick McDonalds after the 60 mins granted for free. I complained to McDonalds customer services who were useless . Writing to me to say I should have asked the manager for a longer stay and how they have to enforce their car parks in order to keep bays available for customers.( which I was ) I called them and they stated that if I was unhappy perhaps I should seek legal advice. I had explained I had waited for a parking bay to become available and also my mother was with me and has a blue badge.

I have not yet appealed to met parking services as I thought complaining to McDonalds was the better option. Clearly not. I am extremely angry at this as I was a legitimate customer and admittedly I didn't look for any signs but as I say. I had waited almost ten minutes for a parking bay to become available.

Will i I have to pay this. It's extremely unfair as I am in the right by being a paying customer.

    many thanks

Re: Met parking services and parking notice

        Dear Sirs,

I, as registered keeper, wish to invoke your appeals procedure. The driver was a genuine customer.

It is noted that your notice to keeper is fundamentally flawed when compared to PoFA 2102 schedule 4 para 9. I further note that you claim the overstay was 11 minutes when the BPA code of practice says that drivers should get time upon entry to decide whether to stay or go 13.2 and a further 10 minutes grace period to exit 13.4 .

Should you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

        Yours etc

If/when you get a popla code please let me know.

Hi mystery. Just an update on my dispute with met parking. I appealed my PCN back on the 25th as you advised. I received a ref number so 100% know they had received my appeal. It's now the 5th of April over the ten days they have to reply. I have heard absolutely nothing from them not a peep. Is this the norm or are they just being blasé in their response ?

Re: Met parking services and parking notice

I can be 2/3 days or 3/4 weeks. Pretty random. BPA code of practice states 35 days and if longer you should be notified. Effectively there is no limit.
