  • MET parking fine at Virgin Gym - Pregnant Lady

    Hi guys

My vehiclewas given a PCN at Virgin Active Merton Abbey on Sunday 21 February 2016. The PCN was affixed to my vehicle. MET is the PPC. The facts are as follows:

    1) The driver parked in a disabled bay without displaying a valid permit
    2) The reason for this was the female passenger called the driver requesting that they urgently pick her up as she was suffering from stomach cramps. She is pregnant and spent the night in A and E a few days prior. The driver had nowhere to park and did not want her to walk far due to her condition.
    3) When they returned with her they noticed the PCN.

From what I gather it is best to wait for the NTK before I appeal and also to write a complaint to the Gym manager to get it cancelled.

Do I have good grounds for this to be cancelled based on the Equality Act 2010 / compassionate circumstances?

Also if i wait 21-56 days to receive the NTK and appeal, will I lose the chance to pay the reduced rate of £60? In these circumstances can I appeal within the 14 day limit?

    Many thanks in advance.

Not an expert of the equalities act but certainly mention it to the manager. If they tell you to get stuffed then you should wait for the NTK. The keeper should get a chance at a discount although as i recall Met do not offer it, so i think you'd lose any discount.
