I have been reading quite a few threads and I'm finding it quite hard to relate them back to my current situation.
Basically, I have escorted a young person I am supporting to a college meeting and parked in a permit only car park (not that I knew at the time) on the college campus. I was unsure if I could park there, so I sought clarification from campus security, who informed me that I should be okay to park there as I was visiting the college. To my surprise I returned from this meeting to a parking charge notice on my windscreen.
I have appealed the case via the independent appeals, which rejected the claim, although it did say it 'empathised with my situation' and blamed the misinformation on the fact they had contracted their parking and security to different companies who do not know each other's policies, which of course I tried to argue to no avail.
At this point I have moved house and all correspondence has been sent to my old address, which inoccsssionally visit as other family still live there. On my last visit I have had several letters, the most recent of which asking for £260 payment or face a court case.
is this justified? I feel like I am in the right and have been given misinformation and also have witnesses to prove it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
