Ive seen a lot of posts here about MET and wonder if anyone can help?
Firstly Im not looking to dodge a fine, i just feel its rather unjust.
I went to Macdonalds with a member of my Dog Training team for a discussion about work and buy her breakfast before she started. Then I had a second meeting with my business partner here and equally purchased her breakfast and my self another coffee.
So I was in Macdonalds for 131mins having breakfasts and a couple of business meetings. I was aware of outside signage but subconsciously and not aware that there was a time limit to customers of Macdonalds; I felt it was there for those nipping of to the other retail parks; I never stopped to look at the small print as felt as a customer inside the restaurant I was fine.
On receiving the parking notice, I went in to Macdonalds and spoke to a business manager who said there was nothing he could do and if I wanted extra time I should have asked; he went to show me the signs in the carpark that mentioned the extra time (these were his signs and not MET) apparently the sign must have been pulled down; equally the one on his door and the one on the stairwell! There was a sign inside the toilets, but I never visited there!
I tried to explain to the business manager that I was in his restaurant for all that time and that we go every day for team coffee and that I had the registration numbers and entrance time of the staff vans, all sign written the same as mine to prove that we were there for meetings and not to have the benefit of a car park. NO luck with that, he didn't want to know.
Equally I have now recieved a second letter and this one offers a discount of 50% if I had paid early! this option wasn't on the first letter and the offer is now too late to apply. (seems wrong to only offer after the offer expires!)
