Firstly I would like to say Hi to everyone!! So Hi!!
I was reading a thread from May this year with regard to Jacobs Bailiffs, I may need to post this elsewhere, but my need for help seems urgent to me so here goes.
I have a long standing relationship with Jacobs Bailiffs (at least it feels that way to me). For the last 6 years I have been the main wage earner as my partner battled with his bipolar disorder.
I have frequently had to deal with Bailiffs about unpaid council tax, the first time I erroneously allowed them into the house, not anymore! I always managed to agree payment arrangements and make the payments (fpr the most part) on time and clear the amounts. Since then all dealings with them have been on the doorstep or over the phone.
I knew when we moved house that I had unpaid parking tickets and unpaid council tax, I also had a request for payment of council tax benefit, I changed jobs and just never submitted an updated claim as I believed I would not be entitled. From this the council seem to think they could have all their money back. I know it wasn't a good plan, but for a while I was overwhelmed and ignored everything whilst trying to get my husband back to some level of sanity.
Last month, a Jacobs Bailiff showed up at my new house, (rented) with a list of 4 unpaid parking fines and various amount for council tax, amounting to a whopping 2900. This kind of took my surprise, they have put all the amounts together and now want a substantial part payment before he will look at any instalment plan. I~ asked for time to sort something and he agreed to give my a week. I could not raise any money, I had various things that were outstanding and needed to be paid. I text this bailiff and told him that I would get some to him as soon as possible, he said that was ok and to make sure it was soon as the council want their money.
Today I returned home to find him parke3d outside my house after having had a conversation in the garden with my husband. He told the Bailiff that there was no way he would let him in and if he came back he would need the police because he would be treated as a trespasser. (my husband does not like them and will never help). I spoke to him after getting out of my car, told him I got paid on Friday and he said, ~I need to pay 580 on Friday or they will take my car. I have been given a 24 hours notice letter for the full amount, but he will take 580 and come to an arrangement. Problem is, I am still the only wage earner and after rent and other bills, to last me a month I will probably only have about 300, and that is before getting to work etc and my daughters uni accommodation application payment of 200!
What can I do, I am so worried, he says if I do nothing I will come out to get in my car one day and it will be gone!!
Please advise
