  • MET parking charge notice

    Please can you give me some advice. My son got a parking charge notice through the post - generated by an Anpr camera - by overstaying at a McDonalds. He picked his mates up and went and ate there and didn't move the car when they went in the local 24 HR shopping centre. This happened during the wee small hours of the morning so three things occur to me;

    1. The car park notices are not lit so he didn't see them (he is only 17 so has just passed his test and this was his first visit to Mc D's in a car).

    2. The car is registered in my name not his - if this makes a difference?

    3. Being very early morning the Mc Donald's only had a few cars parked and plenty of empty spaces so he didn't stop any of their trade.

    Is there reason to reject this notice?

    i thank you in advance for any advice.

      Thanks-you very much for this information. I had seen similar information given to someone else but the date was a few years ago so wasn't sure it was still relevant. Thanks again.

        Re: MET parking charge notice

        I have today received a reply letter from MET parking services saying they have rejected my appeal and giving me a POPLA code.
        My letter to them stated that I was not the driver and the driver did eat at McDonalds but as it was in the wee small hours of the morning they did not take up the last parking bay so did not stop anyone else parking and didn't see the signs which were not lit.
        What is my next step please? I'm assuming I don't have to give them the details of the driver. Is this correct?
