  • Smart parking (Inverness, Scotland)

    Help please,
With two unsettled kids (2 & 5 years) in the car, I pulled in the car park at strothers lane in Inverness (managed by Smart parking). 15 mns latter, I left the car park with the kid’s agitation under control. At no time did I leave the car unattended, only trying to get the kids settled and drive safely on the A9.
After a week, I received a parking charge with two pictures of my car (in & out the car park). I am dumbfounded to see my parental effort fined by £100 (£60 if paid by Thursday 9/6/16).
I sincerely don’t see any justification for this fine, although I could be wrong. Please help me out of this.
    Thanks for your cooperation.
    Rocheto.

In Scotland, where there is no keeper liability, file all letters in a drawer on the miniscule chance they try court. Little to worry about unless they know the drivers identity and i doubt they'd find out.

        M1,
Thanks for the advice. I am taking my chances after reading more on the keeper liability. As a follow-up question, If they try court, then what?.

They'll lose unless they can ID the driver. Very very unlikely they'll try court. In Scotland, the people who they try court with are generally serial offenders and they might make extra effort for those, such as looking out for them at their regular time, checking cctv etc. Even then the chances of losing are slim if you keep your gob shut. Not worth it for them, for a chance at £100 though.
