  • Newlyn after me for 275 quid, some advice sought

    Hey there
So i get this letter from this debt collection/bailiff company asking for 275 quid. This was for an unpaid parking fine dating back to June 2015. I looked over the letter and it wasn't a car registration I recognized. This is the first correspondence on this I have ever received, not saying others weren't sent, I'm sure they were. Not sure why i didn't get earlier missives, was over seas for 2 months, and also moved house in that period. Anyway upon further investigation the car was mine, which i had for 3 weeks, as a courtesy rental, after my car was in an accident. So yes the fine is mine. I know from experience that sometimes these fines for courtesy cars don't get to you to months later. Anyway I call this Newlyn company and they didn't want to know any of this, they just wanted their pound of flesh. Rude and aggressive on the phone too. Can anyone advise my next step? No way I pay 275 for this, but of course will pay the original PCN. THX

The next stage will be a visit for which they will add another £235. If you had no knowledge of the ticket then contact the Traffic Enforcement Centre and ask them to send you the forms to make an Out of Time application.
