I have received a letter from parking eye stating that I was in their car park for 14 minutes at the Mayflower Southampton Dock. They have given me a parking charge of £100 discounted to £60 if paid by 23/05/15.
I arrived at Southampton to be told that I could not enter the lanes to pick my Auntie and Uncle up as they were busy and to "go and wait in the car park". I entered the car park which was practically full and waited around, in this time my baby girl needed changing which I did as she was crying and then I exited the car park and entered the lanes to pick my relatives up.
Parking Eye have a picture from CCTV of me entering the car park and one of me leaving the car park and stating that I was in there for 14 minutes.
Am I right to appeal this parking charge notice as I was not physically "parked". I do not know who owns the land and whether there is a grace period of 15 minutes or not but I do think it is naughty on the officials part to be sending people into this car park and we end up getting PCN's.
What should I do? I've told my hubby and he says to pay it, but after reading threads about Parking Eye, I think it is unjustified to charge £100 for changing my baby.
Please help!
