  • Parking Charge advice

Hi, I've just joined the forum in that hope that someone will be able to assist.

My best friend received a parking charge notice just before Christmas. She has had 3 letters so far, the latest one threatening court action, and she has been ignoring them on the advice of another friend. She has only just informed me of this as it was actually me driving her car on tis particular day. I had just had a baby, am type 1 diabetic and had suffered a hypoglycaemia episode whilst doing some Christmas shopping so was late getting back to the car. As there was no ticket on the windscreen I thought I had got away with it, I didn't realise that we are all on camera going in and out of car parks these days!

The fine was originally £90 but has increased to £150.

What's the best course of action?

    Best regards

    Sarah

Ignore has not been the advice since POFA in 2012.

Your friend can write to them and name you as the driver. This removes all responsibility and liability from her.

You will then get the letters from the parking company and you can start from the beginning again, not ignore and appeal the charge. Come back here for help when you get the letter.

    Which parking company?

Indeed. Name and and address of the driver stops keeper liability dead in it's tracks and the driver should then be given their own ticket and time to appeal. Totally agree.

I'm with mystery1 all the way.

Don't worry, it wasn't a "fine" it was an invoice. Private parking companies can't fine you.

Thanks all, that's a great help. The company was Euro Car Parks Ltd, does this make a difference?
