  • CP Plus advice

Having parked for >2 hours at a motorway service station I have now received a third letter from CP Plus demanding £140.......and threatening 'to avoid this being passed onto our legal department for further action and possible further charges, you are required to pay the sum of £140 within 14 days of this letter'.

to date I have ignored the letters and their demands. Am I doing the right thing?

Can CP Plus appoint a bailiff to recover the debt without going to court? Can they sell it on?

    thanks in advance

No, you're not doing the right thing. You need to write to CP Plus appealing the invoice (Parking Charge Notice) and asking, if they refuse, for a POPLA code to take your appeal further.

They will refuse your appeal, so don't put too much effort into it, the critical bit is the POPLA code. As you await that have a read here:

    and here:

They can't appoint a bailiff without a court victory, which you should be able to stop with help from here. Equally they are not able to sell this on.

I wouldn't do that as you are out of time. CP plus are not renowned for being litigious so ignoring may work.

If,however, the driver is not the registered keeper then sending the drivers details so that they can do it is the quickest way to kill it off.

Thank you for the quick reply.

In people's experience what are the warning signs for a court attendance?

        many thanks

Parking eye letters, CEL letters and sometimes even a VCS letter before action. As i say CP Plus are not known to go to court.
