  • DCBL Debt Recovery Letter Received in Relation to UKPC Parking Charge (McDonalds)

    Hi All,

Hoping to receive some advice please about a DCBL debt recovery letter received today, relating to a parking fine issued by UKPC for a 15 minute overstay at a McDonalds car park back in May.

    What Happened
Went for a meal at McDonalds, bought food and drink, overstayed the car park limit that we weren't even aware of, by 15 minutes.

Received the initial notice from UKPC back in May 2024, tried to contact McDonalds about it, who said there was nothing they could do. Then went through the appeals process on the UKPC website, explaining the above and sending them proof of purchase at the McDonalds. Never received a response, either by letter or email (they have both home address and email address). Admittedly, since then its gone out of mind, and had presumed perhaps the appeal had been successful (there's no direct way to check this online).

Fast forward to today, and received a 'Notice of Debt Recovery' letter from DCBL for £170. Sating 'you have 14 days from the date of this letter to either pay the outstanding amount or call us to discuss repayment. This case is not subject to high court or bailiff action, however, should you fail to contact us, we will recommend to our client the commencement of legal action against you.'

Initially tried to get in touch with UKPC, there's no route through to them on the phone, so I have sent an email to complaints@

Pay the charge? Or at the least get in touch with DCBL? What's the advice please?

    Thank you for your help.
