Hello Everyone, I didn't know until now but I have just found out about the MET Parking scam at Stansted Airport. I had apparently parked at the Starbucks bays while they were not open, because at 1am with next to no lighting it is hard to view signs and I have been served with a charge while picking something up from McDonalds for my 24 minute stay there. Is there a way for me to appeal this charge and how likely it is to be successful.

You could ty writing to them along the following lines:
Dear Sirs,
I have received your Notice to Keeper xxxxx for vehicle VRM xxxx
I would point out that as the location of the alleged offence is within the territorial boundaries of Stanstead Airport it is not 'relevant land' as it is already covered by statutory byelaws and is specifically excluded from 'keeper liability' under Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.
You cannot, therefore, transfer liability for the alleged charge from the driver at the time to me, the keeper.
There is no legal requirement to name the driver at the time and I will not be doing so.
I do not expect to hear from you again, or your debt collectors, except to confirm that no further action will be taken on this matter and my personal details have been removed from your records.
Yours etc
Do not identify the driver if communicating with them, or on here

Hello Des8,
it has been nearly 2 months since I submitted your suggestion to MET and they have just sent a 2nd letter about a final reminder to pay £100. I haven't received anything in regards to my appeal in the meantime. What would my next steps be?
Many thanks!

Thank you! I will submit a second appeal, and hope they read it. If not I suppose I will have proof? What would happen then? Would they take me to court? And if so, would it get dismissed given I have sent 2 appeals with no answer? I am just worried as that could be a breach of my visa and company contract if it doesn't get dismissed and I get anything on my legal record?

I doubt they will accept your second appeal.
After a while they will probably pass the matter to debt collectors, who will chase you for the money.
However they have no powers, and the matter will then be passed to solicitors who may eventually initiate a court claim.
Now you have very good grounds to defend that claim and should win.
If you should perchance lose, the judge will award the claimant his money and order you to pay it
If you pay within the month that is the end of the matter
If you fail to pay your name will be entered onto the register of County court Judgments for a period of 6 years.
This should have no effect on your visa.
However if you work in certain sectors e.g. finance, bank etc it may do . It will depend on your contract.
