  • Parking Ticket - MET Parking Stansted Airport

I like many have been victim to the parking'scam' at the McDonalds by Stansted airport. I received PCN dated 18/09/23 for the event on 26/08/23.

I tried to do my research and appealed and based it mostly on the 14 days notice was not satisfied under the POFA but also poor signage of two separate car parks. My appeal was rejected with a letter dated 13/10/23. No mention of my argument or whether the PCN was subject to the POFA though but some nice diagrams of the invisible boundaries between the two car parks.

Unfortunately the POPLA dealine came and went, due to personal circumstances I forgot to appeal and therefore continued to receive letters from MET Parking and now one asking for an increased fee of £170 instead of the original £100 from a Debt Recovery Plus.

I have since written to my MP who responded and said they will look into MET parking with the Dept of Business and seemed very sympathetic to my situation. I have also complained to McDonalds where I went to buy food on the day. No response yet.

I am just wondering my options here after stupidly missing the POPLA appeal deadline. Can I still complain to somone and if so do I have a good case here? Is it likely to go to court?

I have since written back to MET Parking sending a SAR request and asking who they have shared my data with as I dont want these shady Debt comapnies hassling me now. I have also reiterarted my appeal basis and advised I have reported them to my MP who is now involved.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Not much you can do but await to see if they initiate court action

    Have you identified the driver?

Can you post up a redacted copy of the original PCN (first remove identifying details but leave in all dates and times) ?
