  • 5 year old parking charge - Collections appeal

    Hello

I've just had a letter from dcb Legal regarding a parking charge at a Moto service station near London.

This is the first letter I've seen about this matter, as I've changed address several times since the 'offence' occurred around 5 years ago...

If I'd seen any correspondence from Moto, I would have appealed based on their policy that they won't pursue any charge if the driver has stopped for safety reasons... The reason I stopped in their car park for so long was that I was stuck in M25 traffic for several hours and started to feel drowsy, pulled in to the next available service station to take a nap for the safety of myself and my passenger.

Now that the charge is with dcb Legal, can I still appeal on these grounds? I called them to explain I'd never seen any correspondence, but they're expecting me to pay a £170 charge which I'm certain would've been successfuly appealed had I seen the original PCN 5 years ago!

Thanks in advance. Any advice on this would be very much appreciated!
