  • Euro Car Park fine moved to Debt recovery Plus from parking at the gym (!!?)

I was issued a £90 car parking charge from Euro Car Parks ltd after parking my car at the gym and staying over the time limit by 42 minutes as I was working out (Feb 19). The gym have an iPad in the entrance to put your number plate in if you think you will go over the time allowed, however I did not realise this.
Since receiving the letter from Euro Car Parks (which was sent to an old address) a new debt company (Debt Recovery Plus) have taken over the charge, found my current address and the fine has now risen to £150. My occupation requires me to be away from home for long periods of time. I was not home for over a month whilst these letters were being sent, hence the parking charge price being risen.

I would really appreciate some advice on what I should do as I don’t believe I should pay for this because the gym allow you extra time anyway. My next payment expiration is the 19/06 before it is then increased/threatened with a court date.

Edit so that the identity of the driver cannot be inferred, use "the driver ....." etc

Is the address on the V5 correct?

Ignore DRP. they are merely debt collectors and cannot do anything.

Contact the gym, in person and not by phone, and let them know that you are unhappy with this and demand that it is cancelled.

Post up the first letter you received from Euro, suitably redacted but leave dates. Photos of the signs would help and the notice inside the gym about the terminal.

I never received the letter from Euro Car Parks as it was sent to an old address, so all I have is debt recovery Plus letters.

Euro car parks have claimed they can do nothing about that as its my mistake for mot updating the address at the time.

Do I have anything to appeal here?

Trouble is, is that I don’t have any ref number from euro car parks as I never received the letter.

Get that edit done. Letter to Euro stating that as they have not delivered the Notice to Keeper within 14 days then they cannot hold you, the keeper, liable for the actions of the driver

What address have you got on th V5 document, the "log book"?
