I know your doctor has contacted the DVLA, but it might be an idea for you to phone them as well. I had a suspected heart problem a few years ago and had my license suspended. When it turned out the heart wasn't the problem I got in contact with the DVLA (who I might add, couldn't have been nicer) and they chased up the heart specialist for a letter stating my heart was fine. So phone them and speak to them, they will give you the best advice. Also, unless you have actually had a letter from the DVLA, you might not even be suspended yet, so speak to them.

Thank you Shell ,I have all-ready got the letter saying my licence is revoked but my Dr has recently been back intouch with them and I am now waiting for them to get back in-touch with me to let me know what they have decided i.e assessment or licence back .What ever they choose I don`t mind as long as I get it back in with in the next month hopefully .But I will give them a call in a week or so just to chase them up .

Did you know that revoking your licence without due cause breaches your Human Rights. namely "right to a private life" etc

It has now been just over 3 weeks since My Dr rewrote to the DVLA and I am still waiting for a reply ,so this morning I wrote them a email and they have replied saying they will be in-touch with in the next 3 working days .So fingers crossed that I get my licence back or at least they will request an assessment ...

Did you know that revoking your licence without due cause breaches your Human Rights. namely "right to a private life" etc

Correct. It can also be a breach of Article 6 of ECHR/HRA, especially if due legal process has been by-passed or a presumption of guilt has been used. Quite a few council jobsworths get particularly narked when you point out their actions are unlawful under Section 6 of HRA where they try to work on a presumption of guilt.

There has recently been a very damning judgement against a London Borough by the High Court where Article 8 of ECHR/HRA (Right to a Private Life) was prominent.

Following Righty's reference to human rights, Article 6 of ECHR/HRA, in addition to ensuring the right to a fair hearing, presumption of innocence and other safeguards, also requires public authorities to deal with your affairs in a timely manner. DVLA is a public authority within the meaning of Section 6, Human Rights Act 1998.

I have stuck to my guns and not used the car for any reasons i.e no licence no insurance so that would make matters worse ,so I wont take the chance and also the police anpr are more sophisticated now .

It is my understanding the use of ANPR is being reviewed. This is because vehicles have been seized by the police as a result of databases not being kept up to date and/or errors in data.

I still wouldnt take the chance to drive while my licence is on hold ,if I had a accident then I would not have insurance and I would surely lose my licence for a very long time with point`s .At the moment my licence is as clean as a whistle and I have never had any traffic violations from the day I passed my test .

I wasn't advocating that you should, FD. The comment I made about ANPR was specifically about a review on the use of ANPR by civil enforcement and law enforcement agencies.

Quick up date , just received email from the DVLA informing me that they have received my Drs letter and it has been placed in a queue with their medical team to be reviewed .Don`t know how long they take but hope it`s not going to be week`s .

They questioned my fitness to drive (dicky ticker) and whilst my licence was not revoked it took them 2 years to resolve it:tinysmile_aha_t: in my favour I might add

Just realised you said your licence wasn`t revoked ,had me worried then
