  • dvla requisition help please

Hi there i will try to keep this short we had a fine because my hubby forgot to do a change of address . Which in course we paid and surrender the tax disc and sent sorn paper work . And now we have received a requisition for not meeting insurance requirements . As far as i know as i dont drive as long it is on private land (being kept in our garage ) and sorn you do not need insurance maybe im wrong . Is there any chance we could fight this as we have done nothing wrong as far as im aware

thank you for any help that can be given

It is my understanding that if it is legally on SORN it must be on Private Property. As such you do not require Insurance, MOT or Tax.
You can get insurance to cover it in case of it being hit, stolen or catches fire where it is kept.

I am not, however, 100% sure of this - but I know that other Beagles will correct me if I'm wrong

You are correct, a vehicle which has been sorned and is not on the road does not require Road traffic Act insurance cover.
Have DVLA stated on the requisition the period during which they allege no insurance was held. and if so does it coincide with the period for which the vehicle has been sorned?
Did you get confirmation of the sorn declaration?

You should have received confirmation of the SORN from the DVLA within 8 weeks (I think) of the application going through :tinysmile_hmm_t2:

So when did you sorn it?
How did you declare sorn, ? I assume by post, as you surrendered the tax disc.
How many months were left on tax disc?
Did you receive a refund for the tax disc?
