Hi I bought car from a private person last June 2015 at his home address. I did not know that the car was a Cat C. He didn't advertise this on ebay - motors. His name was not on the VC5 just the previous owner. Apparently, this chap must have just had the car for 5 days. Since I had the car, I have had to pay out for - leaking boot - no seals, roof doesn't close properly, boot lock faulty. However, a month ago I was driving along and the right passenger wheel came off. I was told by a garage that they could see that the wrong size tyre had been put on. Otherwise ??? not sure of the reason. A garage has said that the roof doesn't fit properly and there were no boot seals on the car.
Can i claim for my money back from the private car seller. I paid £2,000 by bank transer into his bank account, and since I came across these problems I have paid over £500 and I have now got a bill for £1800 for the car to be repaired. The wheel coming off , messed up the suspension etc. I have already paid £700 to put the car back on the road and for body repairs it will be another £1700+
Thank you
Julie
The private car seller denies that he knew that the car was a Cat C, so does the previous owner. However, I spotted it straight away on the VC5 when it came through at my address. It was in the clause paragraph.
