  • Bought car with outstanding finance without knowing

    Hello all,

any advice would be much appreciated.

last year feb 2023 Yeah i bought a car that had an outstanding finance which i had no clue about then not long after i received a letter through the post saying the car i purchased has an outstanding finance and needs to be returned back to them and i had to fill out a form with evidence about buying the car so i sent off all the screenshots and luckily i bank transferred the seller so i showed all the evidence i had. After a few weeks i had an email back asking for more details about me which i replied back too. Fast forward feb 2024 this year they asked me for my bank statement as to which i replied back too and its now been about 9 months since i last heard from them which was the email about asking for a bank statement and i didnt bother chasing them up on it as i thought i would just wait for a response but now i want to sell my car and im unsure if it still has an outstanding finance on it or if they removed it as its been so long since they have nit got back to me. So i now want to email them to ask about it but what can i write in the email.

thank you for taking your time to read my post

You can carry out a search on www.mycarcheck (cost about £9) or write to the finance company asking if the previous owner has paid off all finance on the car
