dartford crossing PCN

Hi have received a pcn on 20/03/2024 states that I crossed the dartford crossing on the 18/12/2023 but did not pay the charge. now I can't remember if I paid that or not. so my question is can they send a PCN after that long. thanks

YES, so basically I had dartford crossing account but I thought they will take from my bank themselves but when I called their cs they said my account was closed in July. and I can't remember closing the account or giving them instructions to close the account.

I think a Dart Charge account is closed automatically if it hasn't been used for 15 months, so is it possible you hadn't used it in the 15 months up to July 2023 (ie between about April 2022 and July 2023)?

They are supposed to write to you 3 months before they close an account for lack of use but letters can get lost in the post. And you might have moved since opening the DartCharge a/c but not updated your address with TfL. Could that have happened?
