  • M6 Toll Fine

Hi there I’m looking for general advice on the following issue.

On 24/12/22 I travelled on the toll. It didn’t accept my Apple Pay, and I they gave me a receipt to pay online. When I got to my destination I tried to pay online, it was giving me an error online something about payment error I can’t remember. I then submitted their online “contact us” section explaining the situation and obviously asking them how I can pay as their phones were down for 5 days over Xmas.

These things usually take at least a week I was expecting a delay over the Xmas period. I used the m6 toll a few days later with no problems. Nothing came from this and I forgot about the payment and message I sent.

Fast forward 4 months and I have a fine for £100. The M6 customer support have been useless telling me I need evidence and that they will uphold the fine which is with Marston now.

I am currently refusing to pay, but I’m sure this will be escalated at some point. If this ends up in court what is the likelihood of me winning the case? Should I just suck it up and pay the company?

(Also the car is leased, and they’ve got my name wrong on the form so technically it’s not me they contacted this month if that’s relevant)

How much of what you have said can you document?

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
