Hi,
Back in October, on a Sunday morning, I realised someone drove into my VW overnight while it was parked outside of our house. The front left corner was badly damaged - the wheel fell off making the car non-drivable. There was no note left or anything, only the offender's wheel trim. I reported the crime to the police immediately and also called my insurer because I needed a courtesy car while my car was being fixed. I haven't been provided with courtesy because mine was a "possible" write-off - I was told that after over a week of circling between the Insurance company, the repairer's garage and Enterprise.
Once my car was officially declared a total loss I accepted the settlement offer - full value deducted by excess (£450).
In the meantime, I made a claim to MIB against the untraced driver hoping to get my excess back. It's been 6 months now and there is no decision yet - liability decision pending. In the most recent message, MIB confirmed receiving the report from the police and asked to provide more evidence because the clip I've sent shows only a car stopping next to mine (no reg, make etc.).
My biggest concern is that MIB might reject my claim due to lack of evidence as they are unable to identify the offender & car involved.
Has anyone experienced a similar case? In my opinion, it's definitely an "Untraced claim" but I might be wrong. All comments are appreciated.
