Buying a car without a history check

Hi. This is my first time on this forum so I do apologise if I have posted in the wrong section.

My daughter recently bought a car. It was a private sale that she bought from a “lovely couple”. Anyway, her boyfriend did a history check after realising that she hasn’t had a fully history check on it and found out that it had been involved in an accident and parts of the car had been replaced with a other car. She is now stuck with a car that she has paid over the odds for and we don’t know where she stands legally. She was told that it was an illegal sale and should be able to get her money back but, obviously, the “lovely couple” aren’t agreeable to this, saying that they were also unaware if it’s history.

Any help, advice or insight would be much appreciated.

Private sale means in essence buyer beware and difficult to void the contract.

Her main hope will be if the sellers misrepresented the sale in any way, but as they have a defence if they were unaware of the history

Best option is learn from mistake and enjoy the car
