Hi all,
I was using the Tyne Tunnel recently, and they have a 'pay later' feature which allows users to pay for the ticket until midnight the night after the journey. I had 3 of these tickets, so I went on their website, adn the website was down. I got a screenshot of this, emailed them, attached the screenshots and told them I couldn't pay because their system wasn't working. A few weeks later, I received a reply stating there was indeed an issue, the payment window had been extended, and the tickets would be covered as a gesture of goodwill.
Because I just wanted this sorted, I paid the tickets (£6 ish) successfully on the website, got 3 payment confirmations and thought that was that. 5 months later I received a letter from collections agency CDER group stating that 'despite numerous requests' a PCN had been issued and I owed £176.
I have recently moved house, and all of the tickets and letters were going to a previous address (I forgot to change the details on my V5c) therefore I had no idea this was going on. I admit this was my fault, however, this ticket should never have been raised as I paid the initial fee as explained above- and received a payment confirmation. Tyne Tunnel people are blankly stating the amount is still owed and say the matter is closed, and CDER group are continuing to pursue this.
What can I do here?!
