  • Renting out my garage

    Hi,

I'm not sure what section to post this question. If any mods could move to one they think suits best I'd appreciate it.

I'm considering renting out my empty garage that's situated in a block at the back of house. I'm hoping to bring in a bit of extra cash.

I'm already thinking of the worst that could happen and that could far outweigh the financial incentive. I think at best I could get £50 a month. It would be ideal for someone to store a classic car as cars have gotten wider over the years so someone would struggle to get out of modern car once parked inside..

Could anyone point me in the direction of a template i could use as a rental agreement, or give me a few ideas. Ideally I'd like to rent to a trusted friend or neighbour from off the estate but if that's not possible then I could need some sort of document. Is it standard for me to ask their name and address? I would probably also take a deposit to be returned when I receive my key and an undamaged empty garage.

Please tell me I'm not making a big mistake. There must be plenty who do rent theirs or rent one from somebody though. There's lots of comings and goings in a garage a bit further down the block.
