Issued a PCN while queuing for car wash

Hi Everyone
I hope someone can offer some advice on how to appeal this PCN.
MET parking Services have issued me with a PCN for overstaying in a BP forecourt. However the whole time we were there we were in the queue for the car wash (47 mins where the max was 30) - there must have been about 6 cars in front of us (who I assume will all have got the same PCN!). We never left the car while we queued to get the car washed and then left immediately.

What is the best way to appeal something like this? Through the MET Parking website or send a letter in the post? Is there a templated reply/letter I should use?
