I am accused of trying to sell a stolen motorbike.

Any help would be very much appreciated as I am a very worried,

I bought my motorbike in January 2018 for £2000 second hand from somebody a few miles away from my house, registered it in my name (I have had the v5 ever since) and all has been well until I have put it up for sale, I received a message from a woman claiming to own the bike still. She's said she left it with her friend and it had gone missing A few months before I bought it. She has sent me photos of her partner on the bike and it is clearly the same one, although it is not the person I bought it from.

This was almost two years ago and the bike is not registered as stolen on the police national computer, she messaged me today saying she is in contact with the police, and I have now taken it down from the classified ads it was on. But am still in contact with her.

does anybody know if I am likely to have to give the bike away?

I did have a receipt from the seller but I of course have since lost it. I've had a look at the v5 and it doesn't say who the previous owner is.

I would be dubious why the woman has only just decided to be in touch with the police now, if it was stolen back in 2017 and it hasn't been registered on the PNC.

The fact that she has sent a photo of her partner on the bike doesn't prove that she owned it and, if the bike was apparently stolen how did the seller happen to have the V5C and pass that on to you?

I would fight it on those bases alone - do you have the name and address of the woman?
