  • Foreign registered car in the UK - temporarily.

    Hi
We move to Europe soon (well, in the summer). It would suit me if I were to buy a car here and drive it to my new country. I am aware of the 6 month rule for driving a car not 'native' to my new country, and so hope to be able to buy a left hand drive car here (they are much cheaper here and it is easier with language etc.), drive it there and then sell it prior to the 6 month date.

I also read that is not legal for a UK national (me) to drive an international car (e.g Spanish) in the UK. Does it make a difference if this was only for a few weeks prior to moving out of the country? If so, how do any left hand drive / internationally registered cars ever get sold?

Is there any way around this?

I think the car would still need to have the MOT equivilant from the 'home country' of the car if it isnt UK registered - is this correct?

    Any guidance appreciated.

    thanks

Is there any way around this? Not in the situation you describe

Why not seek out a Left hand drive car that is UK registered and sell that on when you have reregistered it in Spain?
