McDonald's parking (Met Parking)

I accidentally overstayed in McDonald's today (I'm revising for an exam - easy to lose track of time). I didn't notice the parking signs until after the 90 minute time limit. Spoke to the manager who says they have no control over the parking company (Met Parking). He advised me to ring them, but I just get an answerphone.

I can't afford a £100 fine! Should I keep trying, or wait for a penalty letter?
