Council Tax (May not be in the right section but i need help"!

I am about to move into a 6 bedroomed student house in Chester with 5 other guys. They are all student, I am not and I was just wondering what the state of play is with council tax. when I looked online it said the house was in band D which is over £1000 a year, Is this right? the others are exempt from paying it, do I have to pay the full whack?
Much thank and sorry if i've posted on the wrong forum but you people look like you know what you're talking about when it comes to things like this.

Hi,

This may not be what you want to hear, but it's better you know now.

If the house is currently exempt from council tax (CT) as they are all full time students, when you move in as the only working professional there you will be liable for the full amount of CT, though you can apply for the single person discount of 25%.

Unfortunately CT is a property based tax, not person based. Sorry! :beagle:
