      Re: Consequences of false claim

I have known several people in exactly this position, they have just alerted the authorities that their circumstances have changed and the payment have been adjusted.

There has been no questions asked. In one case the council had even started inquiries into a false claim and dropped it when the claimant registered a change in circumstances.

The point about proving criminality is well made.
