    Re: Landlord paying council tax

This is true. A Landlord (or any owner of a property) can have up to 12 months' Class A exemption from council tax if the property has been left empty due to refurbishment. I had a serious flood in a flat in Brighton which took two years to resolve (it was in a Grade 1 Listed building so loads of permissions needed for the restoration work ). But the OP's property is not empty which is what is making me so suspicious :spy:

Bear in mind if the owner or agents advise the council, and the ll has been paying, and they decide to correct their records, the ll may be offered a nice large credit, and you given a lumpy bill for your liability. Defo best advice to speak to council directly.
