  • First registration of house at Land Registry and adding owner

    Hi all
My mother recently passed away, and has left my sister and I her cottage. This was first purchased in 1970's and is not on the land registry. So firstly we need this registered, and from what I understand this is requested with an FR1 form, plus ID1 form showing our certified ID's, which I presume has to be certified by a solicitor etc.
As the cottage is not registered, there is currently no owner, could anyone provide information on how we have the cottage registered and both my name and my sisters added to the title ? The land registry is unable to provide any information on how this can be completed. I would be grateful if there is any guide or information on how this can be completed ? or does it have to go through a solicitor ?

You would do best to engage a solicitor to help with this.

There is a very technical Land Registry guide: https://www.gov.uk/government/public...-registrations
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
