  • Property fraud

Hello there. Hopefully someone can help with a strange question/scenario I have.

I arranged to have a will drawn up which has l been sorted as of today but also decided to have an RX1 set up to prevent property fraud.
went in to sign the documents today and was really rather rushed and simply told to sign a couple of times and that was it. I left and after a short while felt as though it should all have been explained better. And that in effect, it was all done on trust and that I have no idea what I signed really. Raised this with the solicitor and was shown the document which seems fine but one page which I signed has been shredded as apparently it was suggested that I needed to sign erroneously when in fact I didn’t have to sign.
I’m now being told that the particular page I signed has been shredded. Which it may well have been, but, as a lay person, all I know is that I’ve signed something to do with my property that may have been shredded or alternatively may be used to assign my property to someone else etc via the land registry. I’m sure cases of fraud are rare but is there any way I can protect against this or are solicitors somehow blocked from acting in such a way?
it’s probably my anxiety talking but some advice and reassurance would be of great help

    thanks

Have you asked the solicitors for a full and clear explanation and what reassurances they can give you?

Solicitors are subject to a stringent code of conduct, and generally prefer not to be struck off.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

I suspect that you are worrying about absolutely nothing.
