  • Previous Occupants

Moved house over a year ago and have had a couple of items of post for the previous occupants which I have forwarded on. Last week I inadvertently opened one from a company called debtsettlers. I hadn't heard of this company but realised what it was about and rang debtsettlers to pass on their new address. They said they would update their records and remove my address. Today had one from another debt company who they are transferring their debtsettlers account to this month. This looks to me like they are using my address for their debts as this has been arranged using my address in the last few days. I am guessing they have a redirection and the odd letter has slipped through or a one year redirection has run out?
I have concerns that their debt's to my address could cause me problems?

My credit file has taken a dive since moving but this had been partially blamed on one of the banks mistyping my house number so I appeared to be at more than one address and another problem with lowells which I dispute and will be asking for help on.
Prior to moving it was perfect I don't have any debts, my bills are paid on time, bank accounts are in credit my overdraft has never been used even the credit card is in credit

        Re: Previous Occupants

After phoning PDHL debt advisers it seems I cannot tell them that the previous occupants don't live here or give them their new address (over a year old) as it's not my account, also told me it couldn't possibly cause me any problems. They did ask me to return the letter though.

We still get letters for previous tenants here, everything gets sent back "return to sender". Only one DCA has knocked in the last year looking for them, and he got told to leave.
I suppose we were lucky that the DCA who turned up actually knew the previous tenant - he could see I wasn't her, and left with no hassle (he even apologised for disrupting our dinner :lol
