I have a terraced house that I rent out. Six months or so ago the water company dug up the road and flooded the cellars of my neighbour and me.
The water company has made good for my neighbour and having accepted responsibility for my flooding (albeit via the managing agent) and agreed to do the work they have since decided to close the issue. They have said they will not carry out further works, have referred us to our insurers and said the insurers should make a counter claim against the water company.
How can this be right?
I wanted to be aware of my legal position before I start contacting the water company direct and getting upset with them.
All help appreciated.
