Hi, I live in a terraced house, sharing the same gutter with two other houses.
We've just had to repair the stop end of the gutter, which happens to be in my house, as I am at the end of the terrace, but it collects everyones' water in a row of three.
My next door neighbour has offered to pay for a third of the repair, the other neighbour sharing the gutter refuses to pay. Is there anything in the law that clarifies what to do in this situation? Is the gutter a shared service? Can I enforce sharing the cost of this repair?
I've looked in the deeds for the house, but there is nothing about gutters.
Many thanks.
P.S. I should clarify the reason for the repair was that the house in the next row of terraces was being damaged with damp as the stop end has been missing for over 18 months (I only moved in 2 months ago), and was hit with the news of having to carry out the repair when I moved in.
