  • Mortgage Offer expires soon

In April my son and his fiancee reserved a house under the first time buyers new buy scheme. House originally expected to be completed late August

They got a mortgage offer from Nationwide, offer to expire 1st December The builder keeps putting back date the property will be completed, now they are saying it will be the end of November

Son and gf have already paid for extras, ie shower, tiling, floorcovering etc, but are worried that the house wont be finished before mortgage offer expires,

HELP, any ideas what happens in these circumstances

Hi Cyn. Your son needs to keep the Nationwide informed of the situation regarding the completion dates and ask them to prepare to extend or renew/re-issue the mortgage offer. They may have to submit some up to date paperwork but if their financial circumstances are the same as when they qualified for the mortgage there should be no problem extending the mortgage offer.
