Hi everyone,
I'm actualy posting on behalf of other tenents where I live but will explain the situation.
On the farm where I live the landlord rents out dwellings he's constructed from second-hand mobile homes.Basically they were all built without planning permission over a number of years and 4 of them now have obtained planning due to being undiscovered for 10 years or more, I live in one of these. Unfortunatly another 7 built later and without planning now have a court order on them to be dismantled and removed by the landlord after a lengthy legal battle lasting 3 years. The dwellings have to be removed by the Nov 30 and the residents, including three children have to be evicted. They are understandably panicing about where they're going to go. This is cumbria where emergency and authority housing is incredibly scarce.
Basically I'm just wondering if the residents have any way of putting this off. Is there anyway that they could prosecute the landlord or the council to stave off the eviction or if the landlord (who is a good guy by the way and doesn't want to evict these people) doesn't remove the dwellings and leaves the tennents there what would the local council do.
Some of the residents now in danger are in reciept of benefits and I wonder if there was anyway they could use legal aid on their behalf.
This whole case is quite lengthy and complicated and any interest would be great appreciated. We do have are own web full of info about the place and history at www.rurallifestyles.net if you would like to have a look. thanks a lot.
