  • Council House Problem advice needed

I live in a 2 bed house which has a stairlift in it due to my partners health problems and not being able to climb stairs. We have been here 4 years but his health probs have got worse and I'm now having to wash him down at a sink due to him not being able to get into a bath. he is also unable to manage the gardens now. we both suffer high blood pressure and depression with which we have medication for it. the stairlift itself is good but because he has a weak bladder he has passed water in the stairlift chair twice before it even gets up the stairs for him to use the toilet.

I have joined my housing bid site hoping to get a ground floor flat with a yard which would be much better for us both but have been put into the lowest band available even though we gave them letters from the doctors and hospital he is under for treatment of arthritis and crumbling of the spine. Is there anything we can do to go higher up in priority.

    Hi roseyredder and welcome,
I would get in touch with your Occupational Therapist, http://www.carers.org/help-directory...onal-therapist

It may seem as though they are only there for equipment etc but that is not the case they are there to make your life easier and therefore if your present home is not suitable than I am sure a report from them will help you.

Hi RR,ask your council to supply you with a portable bath lift and a commode to help you just now till they can rehouse you, this should help take the strain of you a bit.best wish's streetwise.

By the look of it, your partner is going to need a walk-in shower and shower chair. That is something your O/T can help with. For the timebeing, would a perching stool be of any benefit to your partner? This is something your O/T can obtain for you.
