  • National Home Loans, now Paragon

Need a little help with this please.

In the mid 80's took out a mortgage with NHL which was subesquently known as Paragon.

Redeemed mortgage about 5 years years ago, and as a starter I recently wrote asking for a refund of the exit fee, plus a refund of any arrears fees that had been debited to my account.

By return of post they sent me a cheque for £150 for the exit fee, but claim that "the statement made by FSA relates only to loans regulated by FSA. Unfortunately your loan does not fall under the jurisdiction of FSA, and therefore there is no obligation to refund the amount requested"

The loan, as they chose to call it was a 1st charge endowment mortgage.

NHL only introduced arrears fees for telephone calls and letters in 1993, and I havent a clue at this stage how many of these fees were applied to my account, because they didnt provide a full breakdown of the figure required to redeem the mortgage.

Have just sent a SAR, so hopefully all will be revealed.

In the meantime if anyone could offer any suggestions, would be most appreciated
