  • Alternatives to Indemnification of landlord?

I'm a leaseholder. the freeholder is asking me to indemnify them over an absolute covenant concerning alteration works. I live in a 114 unit building the thought of having to pay for any claim they receive feels unreasonable.

are there any workable alternatives to this?

They want to grant consent. im wondering if there's a legal work around?

You need to ask someone to look at the wording of the lease and of the proposed indemnity.

Can a cap be put on the amount of the indemnity so as not to make it open-ended?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
